1. How did you first know that you had intuitive abilities?

I first realized that I had intuitive abilities when I was 12 years old. My cousins were planning a fishing trip one night, and I saw a vision of them on the boat and the boat tipping over and they drowned. I went to my mother and father and told them what I had seen and not to let my cousins go fishing. Being 12 years old nobody believed what I had said. Later that evening, my cousins did indeed go fishing and none ever returned as they had drowned in the ocean.

2. Over the years, have your abilities become stronger and/or more refined?

Yes, over the years, I have found that I have become better able to focus my abilities and hone in on what message is for the person I am giving the reading to. When you have a real psychic gift, it is very difficult to control. There are many times when I am out in public and sense things or get messages that are for the people standing around or brushing up against me. It makes it difficult for me because if I am standing next to someone and can see that they have an illness, have been abused, or a loved one that has passed on is trying to contact them, I can't say anything to them--it can be overwhelming at times. So, over the years, I have trained myself to try to only pay attention to these messages for the people that come to me for help.

3. Would you tell us a little bit about the meetings/sessions that you hold via video calling?

I do Skype video calls so that people that are not local to Toronto can still have access to me for help. On these types of calls, I ask them not to tell me anything about themselves and to simply let me tell them what I see and any messages that are being sent to me for them. This way, they can see that I am real, and it reassures them that what I am telling them is true because there is literally no other way for me to know it. A lot of times with fake psychics, they ask questions to gather information upfront to help with their readings. Someone with a real psychic gift does not need to probe people to be able to give them answers to their questions.

4. How do people generally implement the guidance you give them into their daily lives?

Most people that see me take my guidance and advice very seriously. I am not the person you want to see if you are looking for entertainment. I am the person you want to see if you need help and have questions you want answered. I can help you to see what is coming in your life, and if you want to change it, I can give you the guidance and tools needed to steer your life on the path you want it to go on.

5. What do you think is preventing people from being happy--and what can they do to become open to more happiness?

Not knowing the truth can prevent people from being happy. Many people wonder about things or have questions, and it can eat away at them--they need to seek out answers to the questions they have to put their mind at ease and get guidance.

It's important for those that come to me for help to know that I will not sugar-coat anything. I will tell them what I see, and it is up to them what they do with that information.

1. As an author, what are your main goals in terms of what you want to share with your readers?

As an author, my main goal is to inform the reader and give them insights into what I've had to spend lots money, time, energy, and effort in learning. If I can take what I've learned and put it into a form where someone else can more easily digest that information, then I've done my job as an author.

Right now my main aim is focusing on spirituality and helping those that choose to follow a more spiritual (as opposed to religious path) to understand the world from a spiritual perspective and an energy and wisdom based perspective.

To this end, my books Psychic Self Defense and Protection and Improve Your Intuition really hone in and focus on topics which those that choose to follow more spiritually oriented paths will find both enlightening and useful.

2. How do you help clients develop their own intuitive abilities?

Observation is the key word. I help people tune into their own observations thereby learning to trust their own inner selves. All people are intuitive. Be you call it intuition, sixth sense, psychic ability, or something else... it's a natural skill and ability that all people possess and are capable of developing more fully.

There are numerous techniques one can use in their quest for development and that's what my book Improve Your Intuition is all about. It starts at base zero, assuming someone has little to no knowledge of intuitive or psychic energy and helps them, through a series of exercises, to both develop it as well as learn more fully about the success principle that all people are capable of embracing.

3. What is the role of meditation in your life, and how have you seen it help your clients?

I typically meditate daily. Normally three times a day barring life events and so forth. When I get up I do a standard pranic or breath focused meditation. Before I start sessions with my clients I will usually do a progressive relaxation, chakra meditation, and guided visualizations that help me to enhance my session. Finally, in the evening before bed I will do a guided visualization focusing on the law of attraction or a shamanic journey to learn something new.

Meditation keeps me calm, centered, grounded, and down to earth. It helps me to relax and helps me to release stress that I pick up on a constant bases with the type of work I do.

As for my clients and students, I have seen people with high anxiety or deep depressions do a complete turnaround. I have also seen people with pain find some relief. I've seen people with little to no focus in life take life from a point of feeling like they are worthless and a failure to being popular and successful. Meditation and its cousin hypnosis can have so many different positive effects on people; they just have to be willing to work with it and make it a habit as opposed to thinking it is a one-time cure all.

4. What is your Life Improvement Toolbox? My Life Improvement Toolbox isn't really my Life Improvement Toolbox. It's the people who are reading's toolbox.

Essentially the Life Improvement Toolbox is a type of "secret society," if you will. Think of it as a membership area where people who want to learn more about various new age, self-help, and success topics can find "tools" to do just that.

5. How do you find that developing audio and video content is similar to and different from writing books?

When I write books I typically am channeling them. In other words, I set them and just let the information flow. I let editors take the content and arrange it. I usually just try to get the information out on paper though. When I do video and audio content, the result is similar, just a different forum. It's all about providing to people something useful that they can use to either learn something fun and fascinating or something to improve their life in some way.

For those who are reading that want to know how to develop your own products, it starts with an idea and the belief that the idea can be successful no matter what anyone else may tell you or what you may hear anywhere. Without that foundation, I will tell you things will eventually fall apart. With that idea and thought process, however, you will discover exactly what you need to do and talk to exactly who you need to talk to in order to move your projects forward. 1. How long did it take you to write The Real Book of the Dead, and would you tell us a little bit about your process of writing it?

The process of completing The Real Book of the Dead was long and arduous. It was not only physically demanding but psychologically and spiritually demanding as well. To allow for the spirits to fully come through, I had to block off or remove a part of myself to fully allow for their voices to be heard. This means, that I see what they say--I live what they live and I feel what they did. This included drowning, hangings, dismemberment, car crashes, shootings, and the list goes on. As a medium, I physically experience their life memories with them, just as though I was physically there when it happened.

2. What can readers learn from contemplating the stories of people who have died?

The idea behind The Real Book of the Dead is that each person can take away from it what they need. Whether it be losing their fear of death, comfort that a loved one is a better place, or even that they leave behind the guilt they feel from when a loved one passes on. There is so much information that is packed inside these books that I don't even think one could absorb it all in one reading. How actual people lived and died--and what happens next--isn't that all we are searching for? What's the real reason we are here? What does life really mean? The souls truly relay this and their messages from beyond the grave.

3. How might you introduce your book to a reader who says that he or she doesn't believe in an afterlife?

I believe that the book's messages are powerful enough to stand on their own. The conviction of their life stories and the resonation of absolute truth which comes from them is remarkable. To the non-believer, I would welcome them to read and decide for themselves. As with many things in life, there is no right or wrong--only what you find to be your personal truth. I invite them to read The Real Book of the Dead and find out for themselves what has so many people talking (both living and dead!).

4. Why do you have such a strong interest in studying the topic of death?

Death was never far from me. One of my earliest memories is when I was about 3 or 4 telling my mother how I used to be a boy and how I was Jewish. I have had vivid memories of dying in a concentration camp for as long as I can remember. Being from a poor Midwestern family, where I didn't even know anybody who was Jewish, or anything about World War II--I find this pretty remarkable. Even today as I close my eyes, I can still feel the camp and the terror that surrounded it. Death was my release and I was not afraid. That is pretty strong stuff coming from a 4 year old...

5. When did you first discover your abilities as a medium, and how have these abilities affected your life?

I've had them all my life. My spirit guides would visit me at night and tell me things to help me through my turbulent and often violent childhood. I fully believe that it is because of their help, that I made it through to be an adult. While the voices and the visits were always there, it grew stronger as I became a mother and I connected with my children. The healing had begun by mothering and nurturing my children and through this, I was able to love and nurture my own gift.

Meet Daphne and Diane, Creators of Tell a Fortune

The interview below is with Diane.

1. What was your process for taking your knowledge of card readings and fortune telling and making it available in the format of a mobile app?

Well, it's been nearly three decades since the release of our Tell a Fortune board game, which offers answers to people's questions via cards and an astrological wheel. We created the company in 1977, long before people had cell phones of course! Our mission has always been to provide high quality psychic guidance and tarot readings to all areas of one's life, including but not limited to relationships, career, finances, and health issues.

The process started when Daphne was a young girl and she used to rely on her gut or "personal guidance system" (the letters GPS rearranged). To help interpret her own feelings, she marked up an ordinary deck of playing cards, assigning meanings to numbers and suits. For example, the ten of diamonds meant big money, success and advancement, while the ace of spades was a major change, challenge, or decision. When faced with a choice, Daphne would read the cards. Friends called her so often asking what cards meant that she finally designed a deck everyone could use, enlisting a graphic artist to illustrate each card. The cards could be placed on a circular zodiac chart, which came with the deck. The whole set was dubbed Tell a Fortune.

Now everyone is carrying around smart devices, so we felt that it would be good to have the cards be mobile! They have a whole new modern life to them now! And with so many negative things in the environment, it's a challenge to stay positive every day; that's why ultimately why we wanted to make the app: It's renewal every day at your fingertips.

A lot of research has been done over the last two decades about happy, successful people. Time and again research shows that successful people aren't happy so much as happy people are successful. They found happiness comes first and then success follows, not the other way around like our culture would have us believe. 5. In your experience, how does an openness to asking questions have an effect on people's lives?

Because people make their own reality, the answer is more effective if you believe it will be. I began marketing Daphne's cards after leaving a career as one of the first female executives at Gillette. I swore I'd never read them myself--until I started doing it by accident. As I demonstrated how the cards worked to prospective buyers, they would exclaim I was spot-on and ask how I could possibly know these things! I became a believer! I love how these cards show people they have options, and we love putting people in touch with instincts they may have ignored until now.
