Guest Post: Reliable Locksmith Service in Littleton

The following article is a guest post from Littleton Locksmith 24.

It's no secret that any qualified locksmith is able to do the lock and key job you need done. However, finding a reliable locksmith service in Littleton will prove valuable more times than you may now realize.

The average person may not even think about the services that a locksmith provides until they are faced with trying to find lost keys, a key breaks off inside the ignition, the trunk is locked, a child or pet is trapped inside a running, locked, vehicle, you are locked out of your home, or there is an attempted break-in to your home, office, or automobile. When these situations strike, you will want a qualified, professional locksmiths who is able to handle a wide range of services and come to you any time, day or night in a hurry.

The Secret About Local Locksmiths You Need To Know

Many national professional locksmith companies advertise locally but fail to mention where they are headquartered. Sometimes, they will even secure a local area code to place in their ads. They present themselves as being local, but when you call for help, you find out the ugly truth. Your call is redirected to a national all center, instead. You will be assured that a locksmith is on the way. What they won't tell you is that they have dispatched a subcontracted locksmith, sometimes one who is new or lacks the proper training, and sometimes from another state who will take a long time to arrive. If they finally do arrive, they may show up without the proper tools or even leave damage to your locks or vehicles and then charge you way over the quoted price. These national companies do not have any incentive of building a relationship with clients like a true local company does.

Your Safety Isn't Worth The Risk

When you are stranded in a dark parking lot or roadside late at night, or even outside of your house or office, and need the help of a locksmith, and you need help in a hurry. You do not have the luxury of waiting around for someone to arrive from miles away and cannot take chances on sitting around in a troubled spot waiting for help to arrive. When you call a reliable locksmith service in Littleton, you will assured that help is on the way in no time. Our experts know that your safety depends upon it and will not take chances.

Besides showing up when you need them, local professionals tend to truly care about their customers. The time it takes for a qualified technician to show up, and the skills used to perform your locksmith emergency is what you will tell your friends. A reliable locksmith will work hard to get you out of an emergency and back to safety while all of the time focusing on also building a trusting relationship with locksmith customers. The goal is to put your safety first and do the kind of job that will leave you wanting to call again for other locks and keys needs in the future.

Convenient

Emergencies never happen at a time that is convenient, but a reliable locksmith is ready when you need them. Even if it's not an emergency, knowing that a professional locksmith close and able to be on the way in minutes means that the wait time is cut by seconds, minutes, and even hours or days. This in turn means more than convenience. It also takes into account that your safety is on the line.

Investigate all of the locksmith companies in the area before you are inconvenienced by an ill-timed emergency. Research and then keep the number of a reliable locksmith service in your area so you have it when you need it. Get keys duplicated, locks re-keyed or changed, get back inside your home, office, car, or get your trunk opened without any damage to your locks, in a matter of minutes not days. Call someone who will show up quickly when you need help.

If you live in Denver-Aurora-Littleton or Arapahoe County area, have confidence in knowing that there is a reliable locksmith service in Littleton to call ready to show up in no time, and get you out of a worrisome situation and will be there for you with all of your future locksmith needs.

Meet Northwest Movers, an Oregon Moving Company

Based in Portland, Northwest Movers is the highest-rated moving company in the state of Oregon. This fast-growing small business was founded in 2011 and can help with all aspects of the moving process, from wrapping and unpacking to transporting to unloading. Check out their Yelp reviews, and visit them online at http://northwest-movers.com.

1. How did you get to be the highest rating moving company in Oregon?

It's been a fast rise in a matter of a few years. If you think about it, there are other local companies in the area that have 8-10 years on us, in terms of when they were founded. Yet, we rank the highest. Pretty simple. Northwest Movers was founded solely to give the moving industry a new image. Clean cut, young individuals, who go above and beyond with their work, and customer service. Our focal point has been to take care of each and every customer. As a moving service provider, it's near impossible to be perfect. Small errors happen from time to time. We work to come to a solution as fast as we can in order to leave no customers unsatisfied. Some companies in the area will turn a blind eye to small occurrences, such as dings, or scratches. Northwest Movers does the opposite, which is what sets us apart from the rest.

2. What are the benefits of hiring a mover compared to taking the DIY approach to moving?

Well, the obvious one is saving your back, as well as your friends/relatives. Moving is no easy task. It's one of life's most stressful events. There's a lot going on during the moving process. Packing, closing dates, donating, realtors, etc. A professional moving company is able to take away some of that stress associated with moving. Most individuals would agree that hiring a professional moving company is money well spent.

3. What made you decide to start a moving company in Portland?

It might sounds like the old cliché. I worked for another moving company while in college. I knew there could be a better service provided, and that's what I set out to do. I spent about 8-9 months with that company learning the ins and outs of the business. With my business degree in process at Portland State University, it made perfect sense to start a business that is always in high demand, especially for the expanding Portland area. People are always moving, and that's never going to change.

It was definitely a slow start, especially while I was still in school. I couldn't focus my sole attention on the business. At one point I was just doing just enough jobs to pay the bills and get through school. I was a bit behind heading into my final year or so in college. I was eager to put 100% of my attention towards the business. I embarked on a five-term adventure of 20 credits per term (summers classes included) in order to finish as fast as I could. The next two years were spent building the foundation/reputation of northwest movers.

4. Do you have some advice for ways that people can save themselves time and money when they are moving?

This is actually a question that comes up daily from our clients. There are several things one can do to save time and money while moving. Consider packing your own belongings yourself, such as the kitchen, clothing, books, etc. Disassembling the beds before the crew arrives also saves time, especially if the bed happens to be IKEA. Some of those take a decent amount of time to dissemble/reassemble. Putting all of the boxes on the bottom floor can also save time. If you're on a strict budget, consider having the company come in and only move the larger items. If there are items you can move on your own time, consider doing that to save on expenses. Also, if it can be in a box, it should be in a box. Minimizing the amount of miscellaneous items makes the process much faster.

5. What else would you like people to know about your company?

It's important to know that Northwest Movers isn't your typical moving company. I believe our online presence can confirm that. We do our best to answer every call that comes in. However, if we happen to miss your call, please leave a voicemail, and we guarantee a return call. Please do not call over and over again, as we receive a great deal of spam/telemarketing phone calls. Also, email is still an excellent way to reach out to us. We can be reached at www.northwest-movers.com.

Thanks!

Meet H&H Homes of Fayetteville, NC

H&H Homes is a builder of new homes based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They have built homes in Pinehurst, Goldboro, Fayetteville, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Camp Lejeune. They focus on livability and sustainability in the communities they help create.

1. How did you become interested in building homes?

In 1991, Ralph acted on a lifelong passion to build new homes in Fayetteville by forming H&H Homes with his wife, Linda. Ralph Huff has an extensive banking background, and he also has a majority ownership in real estate brokerage Coldwell Banker Advantage. With his contacts in banking, decided to build new homes in some of the military towns around North Carolina. Today, H&H Homes has 60 employees and has built and sold over 4000 new homes in the Fayetteville and Jacksonville NC markets.

2. Are you seeing a lot of construction of new homes in Fayetteville?

Absolutely. Fayetteville is our largest market. We've built our company on the sales of quality new homes to military personnel and families whose careers include the federal government. Fayetteville, with its proximity to Fort Bragg, continues to be a major source of sales for H&H Homes.

3. What makes Fayetteville such a popular place to live among cities in North Carolina?

I think it's the combination of a solid employment center in terms of the local base, but also, a great many cultural, retail and entertainment options that are really picking up in the area. Plus, you've got a ton of outdoor recreational activities in the region. Fayetteville has really become so much more well-rounded over the past few years.

4. For people who are on the fence and considering buying a new home or an existing home, do you have any advice when it comes to making that decision?

I think you have to weigh the advantage between a new vs used home. New homes offer extensive warranties and protections that you're just not going to get with a used home. Furthermore, newer homes are more energy efficient, and it's quite amazing how much you can save per year when your home helps you cut those utility bills each month. Lastly, you have so many personalization options with a new home. You can truly detail your home so it's exactly the way you want it.

5. What else would you like people to know about H&H Homes?

We really take our company's slogan, "Crafted for Life," quite seriously. Every decision we make at the company level has to do with crafting a home that will truly stand the test of time. It will weather the elements and solidly stand for generations to come. We know that many of our buyers want to live in their home forever, and maybe even pass it along to future generations. We've built our reputation on designing and building a product that can live up to those expectations.

Feel free to visit our website and learn more about the new homes in Fayetteville we build and how our company truly stands behind each and every one of them.

Thanks!

Introducing Health Is Wealth Designer Note Cards

Are you looking for a unique gift item for a health-conscious friend or family member? Or maybe you'd like to treat yourself to a little something to help yourself stay motivated when it comes to maintaining healthy habits? You might enjoy the Health Is Wealth collection of designer note cards from Barbara's Design Solutions on Etsy.

These note cards are scented with a variety of fragrances that evoke the natural scents of fruits. They are designed to be beautiful to the eye and pleasing to the nose. The idea of the Health Is Wealth collection is to share and enjoy cards that give a reminder of healthy eating.

Personally I like to keep blank greeting cards on hand to send for many occasions--sometimes it's nice to send a card just as an everyday way to say hello. When so many of our communications are online, it's a pleasant surprise to receive a card in the mail. The idea of scented cards reminds me of how I used to make scented sachets with my mom to give to friends as little gifts.

Along with the Health Is Wealth cards, Barb also offers other scented card collections, including the Spa Day cards for when you want to send a relaxing message to a friend, the Coffee Lovers collection of coffee-themed cards for many occasions (from birthdays to thank-yous), and the Cupcake Lovers collection.

Barb is always adding new and unique items to her shop. Learn more by reading her profile on Etsy.com.

Introducing Healthy Built Homes

Healthy Built Homes is a free price quote service for people in the United States who are building or renovating their home and are looking for local contractors who use green materials and practices. The site emphasizes the importance of making sure your home is healthy as well as energy efficient.

The site is really easy to navigate, and there are two ways to go about it. You can click on the city index site map and view a list of US states and then a detailed list of cities within each state. The list includes suburbs and smaller cities--I come from a smallish city and found that city listed in the index. Once you've selected your city, you can find a list of categories for different types of home building and repair work.

The other way to navigate the site is to click choose a category, and then once you find your category and subcategory, you submit your details to receive quotes from local contractors. Part of what you submit is your zip code, which is what narrows the quotes to locals.

I tried out the site by searching for someone to paint the outside of my house. I found my city, selected the "exterior" work category, and then selected "exterior paint contractors." I only had to answer a few questions about the size of the job and any special conditions about my house (cracked or peeling paint, type of exterior surface such as siding or stucco, etc).

This is a cool and free site that is easy to use. Sometimes I can get referrals from friends for work on my house, but other times I can't. It's nice to answer a couple of quick questions and have contractors contact me, rather than making a lot of phone calls myself. The site is definitely worth a try, whether you're looking to get an energy audit for your house, having work done on your HVAC system, having an addition put on your house, or remodeling a single room.

Meet Tina Cauthorn, Artist and Etsy Seller

Tina Cauthorn is a retired buyer from Fred Meyer, a division of Kroger. She has put her creative skills to work by having fun with buttons. Her "Button Factory" is in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Tina buys all her buttons on Etsy, on eBay, and at antique stores. So many Buttons, so little time! Check out Tina's button frames and other creations by visiting her Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/allbuttonedupbytina.

1. How did you decide to focus on making and selling button frames in your Etsy shop?

I saw a button frame in an antique shop and I thought, "I can do that." I went home and found an old picture frame and started gluing buttons on it. I still have my first "creation," and when I look at it, I realize how far I have come. Once I made enough to give away frames as gifts to friends and family, I decided that I should try selling them. I initially did a few craft shows. Boy, is that hard work! Everyone at the craft events was talking about Etsy. I looked into it and figured I would give it a try! My product seems to find the right customer base on Etsy.

2. What do you especially like about working with buttons--and how do you choose the buttons to work with in your creations?

When I worked as a buyer, I did a lot of design work, and this was a great way to challenge my creative side. One of the things I did as a buyer was buy "Novelty Underwear." All those boxer shorts with hearts on them for Valentines Day? I kind of took that idea and transferred it into button frames. It's fun to think of ideas. Holidays were easy! But then, I thought "Minions." What about "Wine," "Weddings," and "Watermelons"? I love that my customers send me a request for something special, and I'm able to make it happen.

3. In searching for buttons online and offline, how do you distinguish antique buttons from more contemporary ones?

When I started binging on buttons, I bought a lot of buttons on eBay--by the POUND! I got all kinds of old, vintage buttons. Since then, I've gotten very discriminating in only picking buttons that I know will complement what I already have. I've had to add new, current buttons into my assortment. It's tough to find nice, vintage rhinestone buttons or vintage button in bright, vibrant colors.

4. You have some great reviews on Etsy! What has been your experience in selling on the Etsy platform?

I've always said that Etsy is really a fabulous community. I find almost everyone I've dealt with has been a pleasure. I use my many years in retail to set my standards for my shop. "The customer is always right," and I want to make sure its a pleasant experience. I know I love it when I get a package from Etsy and its nicely wrapped and presented. I've had a lot of the sellers I buy from become regular customers. It's a nice world.

5. What is your advice to others who want to start selling arts and crafts projects online?

I think if you want to start selling online, you need to do your research. What is out there? What is the pricing? Does it compare with what you do? I know my first frames were not as nice as they are now. I did not start selling on Etsy until I had it perfected. So, make sure you are putting your best foot forward. You won't get repeat customers if things are not well put together and presented nicely. Think about how you like to receive things. Be patient. It took me awhile to sell my first frame, but now my sales are pretty steady: steady enough for me to say I am an "artist," even if the medium is glue and buttons!

Thanks, Tina!

Introducing the Premium SST Cocktail Shaker Set

The Premium SST Cocktail Shaker Set Bundle sold on Amazon by G&Z Online Marketing comes with a double jigger, two bottle pourers, and over 50 recipes. This 24oz martini bar kit is a nice holiday gift item made from high-quality, dishwasher-safe stainless steel and guaranteed to stay rust-free.

I talked with one of the partners who created the product, and he's offering a special coupon to readers of this blog. The coupon code for 10% off: just use the Code "BLOGSP10" (Blog Special 10%). The coupon has a limit for one usage per customer, and it can be used for multiple units in the same purchase.

1. I like that your product comes with accessories and recipes. Would you tell us a little more about everything that comes with the cocktail shaker?

Our Premium Cocktail Shaker comes with all you need to make drinks at home. First is the actual shaker: it's a three-piece shaker, with a body/cup, lid and cap. The lid has a built-in strainer to keep everything you don't need away from your drink. Also, we have a double jigger, which is a measuring cup for drinks, 1/2 oz and 1oz, and two bottle pourers to fit on the bottle to avoid dripping all over the kitchen.

With every purchase, we also give an eBook with tips, tricks, and over 50 recipes.

2. As for the shaker itself, how did you choose materials and test the product to make sure it met your specifications before having a factory produce it for you?

Well, it was not as easy as I expected. We hired three material engineers, went over many, many reviews and complaints on other products, and did deep market research for materials best for use in the kitchen, until we decided to go with stainless steel 18/8 (aka Grade 304), as it's food safe, rust-free, dishwasher safe and on top has a nice, shiny look.

3. How did your earlier work experience as a bartender influence your design of your product?

As both myself and my wife worked as bartenders, we know what we want: size, shake, grip, weight, and so it took some time to find the right partner and factory to product it according to our needs, but where there is a will, there is a way....

4. What do you like about Amazon as a platform for selling your product?

I like that customers are coming to buy, and they have a very big variety to choose from. They can feel safe when purchasing as Amazon and we as sellers provide an excellent return policy and 100% satisfaction guarantee.

I appreciate the great customer service and amazingly fast delivery that our customers receive as we use Fulfillment by Amazon. I myself have been a loyal Amazon Customer for over eight years.

5. What has been the response from customers so far?

Customers love the product. We get many emails which tell us, "Thanks, this is an amazing product, best shaker ever." Even though we knew we'd come up with a good product, the love we get from the customers is more than we could ever have expected. I do believe when you make quality products and back them with value for the money and great customer service, customers get a good deal and appreciate it.

Introducing GreevilGoods for Custom Blankets and More

GreevilGoods is a company that sells unique products online, many of which would make great holiday gifts. One of their specialties is customized fleece blankets. The blankets feature a wide variety of designs from pop culture, including icons from movies, music, and video games.

I bet that GreevilGoods sells a lot of their Frozen-themed blankets! I know my four-year-old would love one. The blankets come in different sizes: small (40" by 50"), medium (50" by 60"), and large (58" by 80"). They are made with anti-pilling polar fleece fabric and are machine washable. They have a full color printing process, too.

Many of the designs are based on vivid photos of artists, featuring everyone from Marilyn Manson to Bruno Mars. Others are more animation/drawing based designs. There really is something for everyone. Many of the designs are meant to appeal to adults, including a design with a marijuana leaf.

In addition to the blankets, GreevilGoods features other products such as messenger bags and backpacks. These also have full color printing and a lot of different designs. Some examples of designs include Adventure Time, Adam Levine, and Bob Marley.

I think the site will be expanding into more home products and gift items such as shower curtains and iPhone covers. This is a newer site, but it is growing every day, and it's worth a visit to check out their offerings!

Meet Carolyn Young, Real Estate REMAX Realtor Loudoun Virginia

1. How did you first get into buying and selling houses?

I am a life-long resident of the Northern Virginia area, and I have always loved architecture and the idea of a home versus a house. Twenty years ago, Loudoun County was just starting to really grow, and I decided at the time that real estate was something that I would love to do--I was right! Within six months, I quit my full-time job and have never looked back!

2. What are some of the most often overlooked parts by home owners when selling their home?

Putting a home on the market is all in the details--it's very important, if a seller wants to get top dollar, to allow the buyer to feel comfortable about the home, and by that I mean that the home has been historically well-maintained, and not just staged for one day's showing. For example, caulking, air filters, water filters, ceiling stains, gutters--it all should be buttoned up. Trust me, buyers look at these things.

3. How has the housing market changed in Loudoun County over the past few years?

Loudoun County, like many markets, has been on a roller coaster over the last ten years--rapid rise, rapid fall, flat, and now steady growth. The last five years have been phenomenal in terms of growth--if you moved out-of-state during this time, and moved back, you would be hard pressed to even recognize some areas. There is growth everywhere.

4. What makes a house a good investment?

All things being equal: location. The changing tide will raise and lower all the boats equally; in real estate, however, a home in a good location will fall more slowly and recover more quickly than other homes. Overall, good location stabilizes a home's value over the long term.

5. For anyone reading this who wants to get into investing in properties and fixing them up to resell, what's your advice?

Be prepared to compete with others who have the same idea; know how much materials and labor cost, and choose your properties wisely. Be willing to walk away from the wrong house at the "right" price. And have a good agent on your side, preferably one who owns investment property.

To learn more about some of the properties we have listed with Carolyn Young Real Estate, please visit our Loudoun Virginia Homes for Sale website, and we'll be in touch right away.

Thanks, Carolyn!

A Resource for Finding Insurance

You only have to turn the TV on for a few moments to see commercials for home and auto insurance. Lots of companies are competing for your insurance dollars, so how do you choose the right company (or companies) for you?

Many people will agree that the best way to choose your insurance is to compare quotes from different companies. Does this mean clicking around from website to website and setting up a spreadsheet to keep track of your results? Well, it could mean that--or you could save yourself some time and aggravation by visiting a website that offers an auto insurance comparison.

It's always nice when someone compiles a bunch of information on a website to save you the trouble of looking it all up! If you visit the quotesautoinsurance.org site, you can simply enter your zip code to find out what policies and rates are available in your area.

You can also search the site for information about specific companies. I think this is a great feature because as I mentioned initially, we're bombarded with TV ads for insurance companies--not to mention direct mail and online ads. So the next time you see an ad, why not check it out online to see what your actual rates might be? For example, you can check out the rates for the well-know esurance home insurance and get a quote that applies to your own personal situation.

Different companies have different rules about eligibility, how to apply, and more. Personally, I suggest starting at a clearinghouse-type site with info about many different companies, and then clicking through to the company of your choice to find out all the nuts and bolts of the actual process of signing up for a policy. Really, looking at a company's online (and telephone) customer service when signing up is a great way to assess a company because you want to feel that you can communicate easily with the company reps in the event that you have to file a home or auto claim.

Meet Yiely of Coidak, Retailer of LED Lighting

Yiely is the sales manager of the Coidak Team. Coidak sells a variety of LED products, including light bulbs and clocks. Find their products on Amazon by clicking here.

1. What first captured your interest in LED products?

My first job was working in a big LED factory. That was the first time I knew about LED lights.

2. What are some of the benefits of LED lights over older forms of lighting?

LED lights are very interesting. This type of lighting is more convenient, and as you well know, LED lights save energy than traditional lights.

My favorite LED lights are smart lights: you wouldn't have imagined before that you could control your LED bulb via remote controller. I think LED lights like this make people's lives happier. Even using a very simple LED stage light, you can have a party with your family or friends easily. And with wireless motion sensor lights, under-cabinet lights, LED PAR stage lights, and so on, some fantastic LED lights will appear everywhere in your life.

Coidak's brand slogan is that we create intelligent and green life for you. We hope every customer can enjoy life with Coidak LED lights.

3. How do LED lights work such that they allow for different colors of light from the same bulb?

RGB LED lights are very popular. There are RGB LED beads in this type of light, so it can achieve different colors of light from one bulb.

4. What has your experience been like selling your products on Amazon?

I have five years experience on selling products on Amazon. I also was selling products on eBay for 2 years before. Choosing Amazon FBA is very convenient for us, and our customers can receive items in 1-3 business days while Amazon deals with the most of the customer service.

With Amazon handling fulfillment and customer service, our main time is spent on developing new LED lights, controlling product quality, and packaging and sending products to the Amazon warehouse. All of our products are tested before being sent to Amazon's warehouse.

We'd like to design more smart LED lights, so we will do more questionnaires and then work with developing ideas in response to customers' feedback and design more intelligent LED lights. We'll cooperate with the LED factory we partner with so that we can control the product quality and also control that all of our products have the best prices for our customers. Factory to customer would be cool!

5. So far, which of your products have been most popular with consumers?

Coidak remote controller RGB bulb and Coidak LED Motion Sensor Spotlight are the most popular. I also recommend our new Coidak wake up light. To see more products details please check our Amazon Coidak store.

Thanks, Yiely!

Introducing Knowledge Exchange

Sometimes when I'm online, I just like to browse a website with a collection of interesting articles and videos. This is exactly the kind of site that Knowledge Exchange has set out to be.

You can find articles on a variety of topics, and the two main things that I like about this site are that the articles are clearly categorized under useful descriptive subheadings, and the content on the site is updated every day. I always like a site that promises new content each day--it makes it worthwhile to visit the site to see what's been added since my last visit.

Some of the recent articles on Knowledge Exchange include fall gardening ideas, tips for managing arthritis, and information about the possible benefits of coconut oil. Much of the content on the site focuses on home and health related topics, including cooking, diet, and gardening. There are also articles on business, especially work from home business and ecommerce.

By the way, if you follow Knowledge Exchange on Facebook, you can have little descriptions of new articles posted to your news feed as the website is updated.

This is a site with lots of content, and I think it will continue to grow. I'll be checking back with the site over the next few months to see how it has expanded over time!

Meet Brooke Clifton, Founder of Illuminate Quotes

Brooke Clifton is currently studying web design and wanted to practice her online skills and thought what better way than starting her own e-commerce site. Through Illuminate Quotes, she works with an amazing hand-letterer to produce inspirational quotes that look great in a home office or can be a unique gift. In researching the market, she found that there were a lot of quotes available for sale, but none that would look great in a home, so she decided to design her own range. Keep up with Brooke and Illuminate Quotes on Instagram, and on her website, http://www.illuminatequotes.com.

1. What gave you the concept for your shop, Illuminate?

They say even the most successful people need a little inspiration to keep them on track, driving them towards their goals. Illuminate aims to provide that beautifully designed spark to inspire others to live life in a more purposeful way.

Experimenting with hand-lettering techniques, I fell in love not only with the simplicity and stunning design, but also with the way that no two letters are the same, which gives it that unique touch.

In furnishing my home after renovating it, I found a real gap in the market for this type of design. Starting Illuminate allowed me to create meaningful pieces to reflect my space and inspire me every day!

2. When I saw the name of your shop, a couple of meanings of the name came to mind--one being the illuminating nature of the quotes, and the other being hand-drawn illuminated manuscripts of olden days. What does the name of your shop mean to you?

To illuminate means to "light up," which captures the essence of the brand, that is, lighting up and inspiring individuals to be more creative, successful, and happy! I love that it also reflects a bit of history and can mean different things to different people.

3. How do you choose the quotes to feature?

I'm constantly blown away by those who achieve great success in their work, especially in creative businesses. My current collection has been created with the entrepreneur or successful go-getter in mind, aiming to motivate them to do their best work and not give up.

4. Do you have plans to expand to other products in addition to prints?

Absolutely! I am working on a collection of greeting cards at the moment. I am also developing the next collection of prints which will be in the same black and white simple style, with the subject of the quotes being something that is both playful and inspiring! Stay tuned!

5. Based on your experience so far, what's your advice for others with an interest in starting their own online store?

Get started as soon as possible, and experiment with different ideas until something feels right! Get to know your target audience inside and out, and look for gaps in the market that you can fill.

Starting an online store requires a good knowledge of web design that focuses on the customer experience as well as SEO and a targeted marketing strategy to drive traffic to your site. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, trust your gut, deliver an outstanding product or service, and you can't go wrong!

Thanks, Brooke!

Introducing TheSavingsMart on Amazon

When people think of Amazon, sometimes they just lump everything on the site together and forget that there are a lot of uniquely individual storefronts on the site. For me as an Amazon shopper, I like when I find a particular storefront that carries products that I like, and I tend to return again and again.

If you want to check out an interesting storefront on Amazon, check out TheSavingsMart. A self-described one-stop shop, TheSavingsMart carries familiar brand names at discounted prices.

When I browsed the shop, I found great products for kids from brands like Disney and Fisher Price. For example, there are Frozen figures and backpacks. If you need gifts for a child's birthday or other occasion, you'll find lots of inspiration here--plus ideas for party supplies, too.

Another brand carried by TheSavingsMart is the MEDca brand. MEDca has an extensive range of useful products, from health to household to toys. They have a lot of hard to find gadgets, like shoe stretchers and hearing amplifiers. My favorite of their toys is their supermarket playset which comes will all sorts of fun stuff for kids to pretend that they're shopping, cooking, and more.

If you haven't browsed TheSavingsMart storefront on Amazon before, give it a look and see the latest products for kids as well as adults.

Meet Jim Allen, Sponsor of the Appliance Tech Scholarship

Jim Allen is the CEO of Appliance Zone, an online resource for buying parts and accessories for appliance brands like Whirlpool, GE, and KitchenAid. He worked for a number of years as an appliance repair technician and ultimately invented a tool called the Allenbar which is still popular today. In 2004, Jim and his wife Paula founded Appliance Zone.

Jim and Paula's latest project is funding a scholarship for military veterans to learn appliance repair. Visit ApplianceTechScholarship.com to learn about this unique vocational education program.

1. What inspired you to create the Appliance Zone scholarship program?

The scholarship program was really born out of our desire to do something positive for our military veterans. There is a shortage of high quality appliance repair technicians out there. We knew that if we could get some interested veterans the training needed to be successful in the appliance repair trade, it would be a win/win situation.

2. Would you tell us a little more about the Samurai Tech Academy Appliance Repair Training Course and what skills students learn?

Susan Brown of the Samurai Tech Academy states that the Fundamentals of Appliance Repair training course was designed to give a thorough and solid background in the essential knowledge needed to become proficient at troubleshooting and repairing appliances. It covers a broad variety of topics, but its particular strength is in teaching basic electricity, schematic analysis, and troubleshooting--skills that are increasingly vital to competently and profitably repair modern appliances.

Although Fundamentals was initially designed with the novice in mind, at least half of the students are experienced techs who recognized that they needed to fill in their knowledge gaps and are excited to see the resulting improvement in their skills after taking the course.

Susan also says that in the Fundamentals of Appliance Repair training course, students learn about the tools used in the appliance trade, basic electricity, reading schematic diagrams, using schematic diagrams to develop troubleshooting strategies, gas fuels used in appliances, electronics in appliances, appliance parts, and electric motor systems in appliances.

3. How long does it generally take for students to complete the course--and how do they generally gain hands-on practice in applying the skills they learn from their online training?

According to Susan, the Samurai Tech Academy courses are self-paced, so the time to complete the course varies widely depending on the student's schedule and the knowledge and experience that they already have. Those who can devote a few hours a day to the course should finish in a matter of weeks. Others who have to fit it in around a work schedule might take a couple of months. Note that students have lifetime access to the course material, so they can go back and review anytime they want.

There are various ways that techs get the hands-on practice that they need. One effective way is to get hired as an apprentice at an appliance service company and spend part of their day taking the course, and part of the day riding along with a senior tech. (Being an STA student or graduate is a great selling point to a prospective employer!) Those with a strong entrepreneurial drive who want to have their own business will typically start tinkering around with their own appliances and those of friends and family, then slowly expand to take on regular customers.

4. Based on your own experience in the appliance industry, what is your best advice for people who want to break into the field?

I learned early on when I started in the repair industry to stay on top of new appliances that were being developed, then sold nationwide to consumers. Appliance designs and functionality has changed dramatically in the past several years. Today consumers are demanding "smart appliances," so from a technical perspective one would need the proper training on these appliances and the proper tools to successfully diagnose the problem and complete the repair. Technicians that are up to date on all the new products will have a much larger audience of customers vs. those that prefer to only work on the older appliances and only certain brands. Techs today, if properly trained and equipped, can rapidly expand their business into a leading appliance service and repair company that handles all brands of all appliances and furthermore are able to get the customer's appliance up and running in an instant regardless of what brand it is or where it was purchased.

5. Why is appliance repair a good field for veterans to explore?

Today's military veterans know what hard work and discipline are all about. You see something new every day in appliance repair. No two days will ever be the same. You have to be able to not only think on your feet and get the repair done right the first time, but you also have to be able to work with people and help them understand what you are doing to their appliance and why. We feel confident that this segment of the population has the dedication necessary to be successful in this field.

Thanks, Jim!
